On Thursday afternoon I went for afternoon tea at Selfridges Birmingham with the lovely Ploy and Hanna from Bare Minerals. Whilst enjoying the amazing tea and cakes we were taken through all of the amazing skin care products.
We were in the amazing balcony champagne bar on the fourth floor of Selfridges, having to walk past the amazing shoe lounge was a struggle but the view was so worth it. The balcony over looks all the shops below and is flooded with natural light, a beautiful spot for an afternoon of beauty chatter.
The new Bare Minerals skinsorials skincare range is made up of a set of cleansers, matching moisturizers, a powder exfoliator as well as a mask and serum.
The cleansers are all made to suit different skin types, my person favourite being the “Clay Chameleon” transforming cleanser. It’s a clay to cream formula that works on purifying your skin and give you a clean and refined looking complexion. It works by combining Brazilian Red Clay and mineral-rich sea salts with a comforting cream made of papaya and and bamboo extract.
I’ve never used a clay-to-cream formula before but it left my face feeling very clean but touchably soft. To use you apply the clay directly to a dry face, then with damp finger tips gently massage the clay and it will transform into a buttery cream. I then used this to cleanse my skin, making sure to focus on the oily-er areas of my face (nose and forehead) and then wash away with water.
I was really impressed by how clean and soft my skin felt, traditionally clay can be quite stripping on the skin and can leave everything feeling quite dry and under nourished, but on first impression my skin looked and felt great.
After going through the skin care and polishing off more cake, we all retreated to the Bare Minerals counter where the girls gave us a full run through of the makeup products, I was so excited to try the complexion rescue having heard so many good things from the blogger community. However I was expecting a very sheer coverage with a more glowy luminous finish, I wasn’t convinced this would suit my double wear loving combination skin at all. I am pleased to announce that I was blown away by the coverage and the finish is completely natural looking, I found the more you blended the less coverage you get, so with a light hand and a beauty blender this was actually really healthy looking. I set the complexion rescue with the loose powder foundation to mattify and add a little more coverage and the effect was really impressive. The complexion rescue has a lovely light mousse type texture and the powder foundation is like silk, I used the tiny buffer brush to apply it in small circular motions and my skin looked healthy and even without any cakey patches. All this plus all the amazing skincare benefits, it uses marine botanicals to provide an amazing amount of hydration as well as a mineral based SPF 30 and it’s oil free.
I had such a lovely afternoon, really learnt a lot about bare minerals and the ingredients of their products. Thank you so much to Ploy and Hanna for hosting us and Dorota, Amy and Naomi for your great company.
